A striking Brutalist sideboard designed by Silvio Coppola for Fratelli Montina, Italy, circa 1970s. Crafted in solid pine with a rich, dark-stained finish, this sculptural cabinet embodies Coppola’s celebrated fusion of robust craftsmanship and refined architectural design. The clean, rectilinear form is enlivened by the expressive grain of the solid pine and the distinctive inset sculpted pulls, which are seamlessly integrated into the drawer fronts and cupboard doors. Rounded corner detailing and the gently overhanging top soften the otherwise monolithic silhouette, creating a piece that is both bold and elegant. Offering generous storage, the sideboard features two spacious cupboards flanking a central arrangement of four drawers, making it equally suited to a dining room, living space, or office. The thoughtfully designed interior reflects the quality and functionality associated with Fratelli Montina’s production during this period. Nicely aged, the stained pine has developed a warm, rich patina that enhances the natural character of the timber. A highly collectable example of Italian Brutalist design by one of the country’s most respected post-war designers.
