Signed vintage lithograph of a floral still life by Polish-born Ira Moskowitz (1912 – 2001)
Ira Moskowitz emigrated, from Europe to New York, at the age of 15. He began his art education at the Art Students League. His work sought to capture the rituals and traditions of everyday life around him, observed through his travels and living in such diverse places as New Mexico, New York, Israel, and Paris. His etchings, lithographs and paintings are included in many major collections around the world including the Library of Congress in Washington DC; the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; and the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris.

An elaborately decorated stoneware jug with a tall ribbed neck and two intersecting double rings, beautifully embellished in deep cobalt blue with heraldic imagery and symbols including a coat of arms, angels, florals and leaves. Westerwald pottery is a distinctive type of salt glazed grey pottery from the area of Westerwaldkreis in the Rheinland. Salt glaze has a grayish white surface with a texture like an orange peel.
