A beautiful pair of Dutch brass repoussé wall light sconces C1850. Convex octagonal backplates with circular crowns, each with two candle lights, and all wonderfully hand embossed with love hearts, fruit, and flowers. More recently converted for electricity, these sconces would have been originally used for candle lighting and the removable bobeche candle holders would have been carried to light the way. In great antique condition with good patina, clean but not over polished. Hand-crafted provincial French wrought iron four ‘faux’ candlelight chandelier with four ‘naive’ animal silhouettes (stag, deer, dog, cow) and four game hooks, surrounding a domed crown with heart and barley twist detailing. This wonderfully crafted and heavy piece (weighing in at 10kg/22lbs) was originally made for use with candles and later converted to electricity.
